Tumbling Media from Washington Mills
DURAMEDIA® is used in applications such as deburring, deflashing, cutting, burnishing, polishing and brightening. This product is offered in many sizes and shapes: angle cut cylinders 30°, angle cut cylinders 45°, angle cut cylinders 60°, angle cut triangles 20°, straight cut triangles, cones, angle cut stars 20°, wedges, pyramids and tetrahedrons.
DURAMEDIA® 40 is an extremely fast cutting, aluminum oxide based ceramic media that provides a fine finish with maximum metal removal in a minimal amount of time (100 lbs. /cubic foot, color: tan.)
DURAMEDIA® 40 is used for all metals where fast stock removal is required. It can also be used for radiusing, deburring, and surface improvement.
DURAMEDIA® 50/SC is a finely graded silicon carbide based ceramic media that is relatively good wearing and mild cutting (85 lbs. /cubic foot, color: beige with blue/black grain.)
DURAMEDIA® 50/SC is especially suited for materials to be welded, brazed, or soldered where exposure to brown fused aluminum oxide cannot be tolerated.
DURAMEDIA® C is a coarse grain aluminum oxide, graded to ANSI B74.12 standards, ceramic media providing an excellent cut to wear ratio. Its metal cut to media wear ratio makes it a very efficient media, suitable for a wide variety of applications (90 lbs. /cubic foot, color: blue.)
DURAMEDIA® C is a general purpose media that leaves a bright finish for all ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
DURAMEDIA® WK is an aluminum oxide based ceramic media that offers efficient and fast-cutting capabilities. It can be used in all types of mass finishing equipment and has excellent wear characteristics, especially when used in high energy machines (100 lbs. /cubic foot, color: tan.)
DURAMEDIA® WK is for use on all metals where fast metal removal is required.
DURAMEDIA® XC is an aluminum oxide based ceramic media containing a greater concentration of coarser grade aluminum oxide and is known for its fast cutting capability (90 lbs. /cubic foot, color: olive green.)
DURAMEDIA® XC is excellent for removal of heavy burrs, flash, or scale. It has good cutting ability for heat treated steels, teflon products, and nickel-bronze castings.
A primary consideration for this formula would be applications for gear finishing.

DURALITE II® is an aluminum oxide based ceramic media that is lightweight with an excellent cut to wear ratio designed for use on delicate parts (65 lbs. /cubic foot, color: beige.)
DURALITE® II serves as an alternative to plastic for light deburring and surface conditioning on softer metals. It is excellent for use with die cast parts and in aerospace applications.
DURALUM XM® is a sintered ceramic tumbling nugget that is hard, durable, and dense with an extremely fine-crystalline structure (140 lbs./cubic foot, color: olive/dark brown.)
DURALUM® XM is principally used in mass finishing burnishing applications. It can also be used for light burr removal, radius formation, and is an effective driver for loose abrasives in cut and color operations. It is a coloring abrasive; its hardness, toughness, and extremely fine-crystalline structure make it one of the best products for developing a lustrous, high-color burnish on all types of ferrous metals, brass, and aluminum. It is also an excellent substitute for steel metal applications.
